COVID-19 pandemic has changed many things for human life. The need of the hour is “Social distancing” which has made “Going online” not a luxury but a necessity!
Even our education institutions are left with no options but to “go online”, to ensure academic year is not impacted.
“Life imposes things on you that you can’t control, but you still have the choice of how you’re going to live through this.” – Celine Dion
Along with schools, parents co-operation is also needed to make this transformation work well for our children. If your child is in the lower primary grade, then this calls for a special attention!
Here are few pointers to make sure, so that the child gets maximum benefits out of the online classes.
- Make a schedule and encourage your kids to stick to it.
- Distraction free spot to take the lessons.
- Proper lighting arrangement in the room.
- Seating arrangements to maintain good ergonomics.
- Enough space to align the digital device with the notebooks/text books or any other stationary supplies required for the lessons. That way they can maintain proper posture throughout the lesson.
- Few things to take care on the device (desktop computer, laptop, tabs, notebooks, mobile phone) used for lessons.
- Device battery is charged
- Brightness level is configured correctly
- Check the audio configuration and it is better to use headphones if available.
- Any notifications configured by you for the mails, messages, online communicator pings, etc should be disabled during the lesson time.
- Any confidential data should be protected with passwords
- If using laptop, it is better to have mouse fixed to it. Just in case they need to pause /rewind it, it helps them to do it with ease.
- Backup options (if possible) for the internet connectivity issues.
