Summary:

This is a fiction of Princess Vaishali and her adventurous journey. Story revolves around her yearn for Vedic education and how she fights all the odds to fulfill her dream of gaining knowledge. Indian mythological facts and historical lifestyles are beautifully blended and captured in the story.

My take on the book:

Most of the Indian kids grow up hearing and watching Indian mythological stories. I didn’t want my daughter to miss on those experiences, so I always tried to expose her to such stories. Of late, she has also developed a liking for legendary stories. While exploring another such book for my 7 year old, “Princess’s quest for knowledge” by Soumya Torvi caught my attention.

Story dates back to the era of gurukuls and kings rule. Princess Vaishali and her desire to gain Vedic knowledge is the focal point of the story. We see her commitment towards the goal and the way she manages to fight all the odds. As the story unfolds it gets more mysterious. How Vaishali saves her kingdom from evil powers, using her wisdom adds a thrilling touch to the narration.

Along with interesting story, book also imparts some important life lessons to children through Vaishali’s character. They can learn :

  • Education is important and one should always strive to get it.
  • Nothing is impossible, with hard work and faith.
  • God helps those who are committed to their goals.
  • Bravery, focus and resilience can help you come out of difficult situations in life.
  • Be responsible for your actions.
  • In any circumstance, take action for the greater good.

Author has lot of potential, her writing style is simple yet appealing and her imagination power is great. Overall this is a good book with an interesting story, beautiful illustrations and quality print.

Recommendation:

This is a good read for all the children above 6 years. Even adults can enjoy the read as it has gripping story line. I would highly recommend it to :

  • Kids who love to read about Indian mythology and history.
  • Parents who are looking for children stories with Indian flavor and values.
  • Everyone who loves to read about adventures.
