My take on the Book
Sonia Mehta is children’s author. This book is one of the gems from her “Discover India” series.
Festivals are integral part of our life. They bring happiness and rejuvenates our life. In country like India, hundreds of festivals are celebrated throughout the year.
This vibrant book by Sonia Mehta has covered 50 such festivals from different parts of India, celebrated by different communities. It is important for our children to know about these festivals because it connects them with their roots and history.
Story starts with an interesting context, where two kids Mishki and Pushka visits Earth from different planet, Zoomba. They meet an old man called Daadu Dolma, who answers all of their questions and helps them to explore festivals of India.
Book is thoughtfully designed to give crisp and clear information about each of the festivals. Every page is colorful with beautiful illustrations and real pictures of the rituals and food. Author definitely has a knack to keep her young readers engaged. There are lot of activities and questions for children to explore. This makes them curious to learn more about these festivals.
This was one of the interesting reads for me and my 7 year old kid. We got to know about many new festivals and also some new legends and rituals of the festivals which already knew.
It has colorful stories, pictures, activities and lot of information for children to learn. It will be a good addition to your child’s library.
